Borah new CMD of OIL
The Chennai Vision, Guwahati, Dec 1, 2008

Mr Nayan Mani Borah has taken over as Chairman and Managing Director of Oil India Limited (OIL) today at Duliajan in Upper Assam.

A Petroleum Engineer from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, who completed Post Graduate studies at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (IKU), Norway, Mr Borah joined OIL in April, 1974, as Reservoir Engineer and has served the company in various capacities related to exploration, development, production and project management.

As Director (Operations), Mr Borah was responsible for all the activities under the Main Producing Areas (MPA) of the company in the North-East and played a pivotal role in intensifying exploration and enhancement of production from the Company's fields.

Presently, the OIL is producing oil and gas at the highest ever rates in the history of the company. Apart from improving the company's financial bottomline, the increased production has also led to significantly higher contributions to the state and national exchequer.

In the volatile petroleum industry scenario, Mr Borah's new assignment as the CEO of the company is of immense significance as OIL undertakes various ambitious plans for growth by increasing exploration and production activities both within India and overseas.
