Oil India Limited’s world class R&D Centre, established in 1985, has state-of-the-art facilities and has delivered pioneering results in source rock evaluation, formation water clarification & re-injection, water-oil ratio control, rheological studies of waxy crude, and coal oil
co-processing’s.
With a view to provide techno-economically feasible solution
of the problems encountered by OIL in its daily operations in
the field of exploration, drilling, production, transportation
and pollution control, the R&D Centre has been recognised
by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government
of India recently.
Over the past two decades, OIL R&D Centre has developed
application of latest techniques of Geochemistry for exploration
and reservoir studies, process for produced formation water
clarification to 10 ppm level, gelled fluid formulations to
reduce wax deposition problems, and the well performance optimization
measures have led to improved production from many wells.
OIL has also bagged the distinction of having the First Pilot
plant in India for conversion of coal to oil.
